Today in class we launched our rockets in class for the first time. We filled our bottles with about 500mL of water and did absolutely nothing to the bottle. With this launch we saw that the rocket once fired is our of control. This is most likely because of the bad aerodynamics of the bottle. This can be fixed. Some ideas we have came up with is first of all making a bigger rocket. This longer rocket with fins and a nose cone will allow it to fly straiter which would allow it to go higher. Well thats what we think will happen. Another modification we will make is we will try experimenting with more water in our bottle. In this video you can see how our rocket launches and hooks to the left. If this arch is straitened, the distance and time of the bottle can be increased.
Nice job today, with the first launch! I think I have video of the one that you guys did with Mr. Blake, if you want it... lemme know in class on Thursday. The increased amount of water sounds like a good idea; we will probably try that too. More pressure might help too. :)
